The Go Deeper Book List
The Group Experience
Welcome to
One of my favorite things is to share books and podcasts that move me and inform my thinking…
welcome
The Group Experience creates space to contemplate and expand our understanding on major life topics and so it only makes sense that the women around me want to explore and consume fresh thinking and new ways of living!
I want you to be constantly growing and evolving as a woman, this is why I have carefully curated a list not of every book or episode that ever existed but of ones that have specifically shaped my thinking or opened my heart. No need for overwhelm here, just guaranteed, excellent content.
I know you will share the wisdom you gain through this list with the women you meet along the way, and this is how the light continues to spread to others
This Go Deeper Book list is broken down to the topics that have recently been explored in my Groups and/or is a topic coming up in the near future (you may very well want to grab a spot and if so, click here to message me!) . I assure you we will explore every angle together, but with these suggestions you can explore your thinking in your own time and space.
If there are other categories you’d like me input on, please be in touch. Is there a book that has changed your life? Let me know! This list will certainly expand and evolve over time! Simply email me: randi@thegroupexperience.co
For now, enjoy what I have to offer and let me know how you’re moved!
With love for you and group,
Randi xo

Midlife & Women’s Evolving Perspectives
Women are evolving creatures. Each phase carries major shifts that require insights, information, and clarity to help us see the light as we change.
For women in our culture, many of our shifts aren’t understood or supported. We must rely upon the excellence of experts who go deep into topics like understanding the role of patriarchy, the evolution of long relationships and monogamy, how we evolve sexually as we age in our culture, and of course, the ideology of the Wild Woman archetype, particularly as we navigate midlife.
I have personally benefited from each and every one of these books and recommend them over and over to my group participants and dear friends! Use these books as support and inspiration as you evolve into the powerful woman you are!
Books:
Women Who Run with The Wolves by Clarissa Pincola Estes
Untrue by Wednesday Martin PHD
Patriarchy Stress Disorder by Valerie Rein, PHD
Mating in Captivity: Unlocking Erotic Intelligence by Esther Perel
Podcasts:
Where Should We Begin with Esther Perel: How important is sex in a relationship? Listen here! (Note this is one of Esther’s bonus office hours episodes)
Midlife Muse: Things Your Mother Never Told You: The Inconvenient Woman Ep 17 Listen here!
Boundaries
Boundaries might be one of the bigger topics that come up in my groups, particularly for women. We’re taught as girls to assimilate, accommodate, and make everyone happy, even at the sacrifice of our own comfort and this is why having healthy boundaries can be so challenging. Terri Cole is my go-to on all things boundaries, with books, courses, and a podcast, she takes her background as a psychotherapist and offers tangible tools to establish boundaries in a most healthy way.
I can’t recommend her work enough. I also included a powerful book by Bell Hooks. I recommend you read all her work but this book helped me see how women are conditioned to see and crave love and where our boundaries so often cross. Read and listen and watch how your awareness expands!

Communion: The Female Search For Love by Bell Hooks

Women who dare to lead require a certain kind of tool kit. We are not men and must tune into the rhythms of our bodies and nature itself to find full and balanced productivity.
We are born into the confines of a patriarchy and so require the words and wisdom of women who have paved the path of success before us. These books have given me so many helpful insights as I’ve shaped my own unique female perspective to build business, lead with character and preserve my well-being.

Motherhood is the journey of a lifetime and to integrate the experience with mindfulness, self-care, and work that impacts the world, we need information that feeds a more empowered version of motherhood than we knew in the past.
These are books that integrate self-hood, parenting tools, and how to navigate the work force. Included is the book I wrote and published in 2017, inspired by my own motherhood journey as well as the countless women who inspired and educated me as I built my first brand, Beyond Mom.

Money
Money deserves its own category as it involves so many of the critical parts of our lives that I devote my groups to: boundaries, confidence, relationships, and self-worth.
Money involves them all! If we intend to grow as women, we must understand our relationship to money, destigmatize speaking about it, and own our right to make it and have it. I love a perspective that is both spiritual and tactical as I feel that both are needed to thrive. I know my suggestions below will make an impact.

Money, A Love Story by Kate Northrup

Trauma and Resilience
If you’re fascinated by growth and healing, I highly suggest diving into the science of how humans navigate trauma and discover resilience. The following books have provided me stories that have inspired, daily mindfulness practices that guide and frankly, the optimism that despite my own struggles, I will evolve and find strength..

These books have reminded me that I’m part of a movement of women undoing outdated programming and rewriting our own stories. We are taking our history back and forging a new path for ourselves in which we are confident, clear and powerful from our core. Don’t miss any of these books, they seriously changed my life!
Fiction that moved me
As we know a story is way more than that. It’s a way to connect with a character, a time or place in history, a plot that enlightens your own story. These books opened my eyes to moments and places when women struggle to be their full selves or to have full freedom and to stories that ask for our relationship to our own lives to be questioned and explored.
